Value Diversity – Awareness building and Activation Exercises for Team Coaching
To build appreciative awareness of team diversity, team profile strengths and similarities accross diversity the following excercises have proven to be fun and helpful:
Exercise Team Diversity Constellation:
Have the team move in a large open space and have them arrange themselves according to different criteria, which fit with the context and challenges of the team:
e.g.
• Living in the Northern Hemisphere of the World, living in the Southern Hemisphere
• Being with the organization for more than 5 years, less than 1 year and inbetween
• Having worked in large organizations (more than 1000 people), having worked in small organizations
• Having children below the age of 10, older children, none
• Preferring watersports, mountainsports, other
• Etc. (be creative + and team can ask for constellations that they would like to see and explore)
Share observations with examples for leverage opportunities. Have fun!
Excercise Team Diversity Skills & Competencies:
Have team put their quality on a post-it note and have them post-it on a wall to make the diverse team resources visible. Depending on the kind of resources the team can leverage you can propose criteria and build on it with inputs from the team. If there is time group them and explore possible application and leverage of the newly discovered resources
e.g.

• Country
• City
• Nationality
• Languages
• Special Expertise
• Business Relevant Competencies
• Etc.
