This is a good icebreaker activity for working with multinational teams.
You create a map on the floor by identifying the four directions. Then ask participants to stand in the location where they were born. Once there, share with someone close to you one unique thing about the place you were born. Depending on the size of the group hear from all participants or poll a few. Optionally, have participants write down their country/city of origin on a piece of paper with their one interesting fact about the place they come from. Then have the participants put their paper on a flip chart to create a map of their system.
This tool is helpful to get participants thinking about their geography starting from their own personal history. It creates an entry into a discussion about the geography of the team (for more on this see the Organization and Relationship Systems Coaching courses offered by CRR Global).
