Competency 5: Committed

Hosted by Peter Hård on November 18th, 2020 @ 8:00 am - 9:00 am PST

If you’ve spent any time on a successful team you know what it feels like to push through times of trouble.

You appreciate the grit that has you pulling for each other even when the going gets tough.

You also know that this experience only happens when everyone is committed to the goal or purpose of the team.

And that commitment is the fuel not only of team performance, but team coaching at its peak.

Team coaches need to use, cultivate, and bring this fuel to their work to make the most of their time with teams.

To do this team coaches, need to look for, clarify and amplify the “why” of doing this work.

Unlike Individual coaching – not all members of a team will be equally on board with the choice to bring in a team coach.

Where the team needs more fuel to move forward, you may need to help bring it to them.

Luckily, the level of commitment that the coach demonstrates can be a role model for the team members that need to see it in action.

“Committed” is a core competency for team coaches, and the fifth of five team coaching competencies we will cover this year. Join us as we explore:

  • How to help a see a team the value of improvement
  • How to set the course for success with your actions from the first conversations with a team leader and their team.
  • How to bring the discomfort to light – in service of the teams goal
  • When, how and where to “pause/interrupt” the flow
  • How to know “what is needed”

Tips for team coaches: exercises, practices and your contributions to a better understanding of this core competency
