    Goal:
    The goal of this exercise is to build relationship and camaraderie through co-authoring a joint story.

    Size:
    Group size is unlimited for this exercise.

    Time:
    The time required to complete this exercise depends on when and where it is used and the desired depth of relationship and connection.

    Structure:
    Participants may pair up, work in triads, or up to a whole group.

    Process:
    1. Participants must first agree to share aspects of their life experiences with whomever they are working.
    2. Tell participants they will co-construct a story by merging aspects of their lives into a single story.
    3. Invite participants to share about the social conversations and constraints that may have affected their experiences like poverty, class,
    race, sexual orientation or identification, etc.
    4. Encourage participants to notice the differences in our their lives have been shaped by the social environment.
    5. Ask the first person to start by sharing 1 or two sentences about their birth.
    6. The second person would continue by adding an event about their first year of life.
    7. The next person would continue with the third year of life.
    8. Remind participants to make only 1 to 2 statements each time.

    Wrap up with debrief and discussion.
