Team exercise – HAPPY MINGLE
Mingle with team strengths in focus.
Time: 10-15 minutes, Group size: at least 6 persons and no upper limit
Productivity/Positivity factors in focus: Trust, Respect, Camaraderie, ResourcesThis is an exercise to support the team getting to know each other better, see team strengths and see more of how the team views the team.
INSTRUCTION
Step 1
Tell the participants that the exercise is about highlighting the team’s strengths, abilities and resources. What makes the team work well. Organize the room so that there is space to walk around and mingle.Step 2
Ask the team to stand up. Give everyone in the team a question (see below).
Then ask the participants to pair up with another team member. They shall ask each other the questions they have on their cards. After they have asked their questions and listened to the answers, they exchange questions with each other. Then they pair up with a new person and ask the question on the card, listens to the answers and in each new meeting you then exchange cards with each other.Step 3
Start the mingle
Try to let as many as possible meet each other. In a small team, they can meet several times and you can add more questions to the participants as you go along. After mingling, ask the team how it felt to talk about the team strengths and resources? What did they experience from the conversations? How would a team with all this strengths and resources produce results?
Here are some examples of questions. If possible, make the questions below as laminated cards. Else, print out the questions on paper.
- What do you see are the resources and strengths in this team?
- When we are really proud and happy about what we do, how do we do it?
- What works well in our team?
- When do you feel at your very best, have the most flow and get the most done?
- What are you proud of when you go to work?
- When we treat each other with respect, how do we do that?
- What am I grateful for, being part of this team?
- What do you appreciate about our team atmosphere?
- What do you appreciate the team for?
- Can you tell me of some “hidden” skill you have that few knows about?
- How do you think we need to be around each other to achieve our common goals?
- When a really satisfied customer talks about us in the team, what do they say?
- What do you see is our team’s most valuable asset?
- What resources and strengths do you have that can support our team to grow?
