This is an exercise that can be completed after a team has identified SMART goals.
1.Start the session by reviewing goals to confirm commitment and allow team to make changes as required.
2.Provide the TPI definition for Alignment:
The team values cooperation, cohesion and interdependence. There is a sense of common mission and purpose. Team would say, “We don’t always agree, but we stand together.”
3.Engage team in a discussion:
a.How do you want to define alignment for your team?
b.Where is this team aligned to meet these goals?
c.Where do you see disconnect in this team’s alignment that may impact your success in meeting these goals?
4.Breakout sessions
a.What activities and practices would create more alignment between functions?
b.What team agreements must be put in place to ensure alignment in this team?
5.Plenary – report back to the team
6.Next steps – Agree on actions to be taken until next coaching session. Have team assign responsibilities for these actions.
