    Appreciative Inquiry – Trust Questions

    Overview:
All team work requires trust among team members – trust that you can depend upon one another, that all members will pitch in and do their share of the work, that resources will be fairly distributed and that everyone will be included and kept informed through open, honest communication. In successful teams, an environment o f trust is consciously established and maintained. It becomes a felt presence, an accepted norm and a foundation for all that the team does.

Have participant work in pairs and answer the questions and share their responses with one another.

    1. Think about all the teams that you have been on. Tell me about one that you would say is/was characterized by an environment of trust. Describe the team and what it does/did.
    • How was an environment of trust established?
    • How did you know an environment of trust was present?

    2. What were the benefits of the environment of trust….
    • To team members?
    • To the work they were doing?
    • To their organization?

    3. What can we learn from this team that might help our current team build a stronger environment of trust?

At end, do a large group debrief with extra focus on the responses to Question #3.
