When a team member is not getting the results they want/need in a situation, they may not feel comfortable asking for help or feedback from the team. This exercise provides a way forward to get feedback in a safe and supportive way. The alternate pathway is intended to expand the awareness of what is possible for the person receiving the feedback; this is an alternate form of brainstorming.

    1. Team member asks for 5-15 minutes on an upcoming team meeting agenda to ask for input on a particular situation.
    2. At the meeting, the team members takes about 3 minutes to share the situation at hand and what kind of input they would like from the team.
    3. Each team member writes on a sheet of paper one way they see the person being brilliant and one alternate pathway the person could take to address the situation at hand.
4.A. Meeting could end here and each person gives their written feedback to the team member to read at a later time. Team member provides feedback/gratitude after reading the input.
4.B. Take an additional 5-10 minutes for team members to share their feedback verbally; both the positive feedback and the alternate pathway for the person to consider. Team member provides feedback/gratitude after hearing the input.
