Purpose:
TPI’s: Constructive Interaction/Values Diversity. Team members can reflect on their team’s ups and downs, strengths and weaknesses. They can process through the past, understand where they are today, and look toward a vision for themselves in the future…the team they want to become (invest here in positive trending).
Creates a visual for Team coaching and overlays nicely with Tuckman’s stages of team development: Forming, Storming, Norming, Performing, etc.
Helps team members visualize the dynamic nature of teams.
Steps:
Ask Team members to individually add their chapter heading to each of the following flip charts (placed with some separation on walls):
If our team story was a novel…
1. What chapters have already been written?
2. Which chapters were the most difficult to write?
3. Which chapters are being written today/currently?
4. What chapters have yet to be written?
Next: Gallery walk and debrief, let teams process/discuss or limit time for each if necessary. Facilitate dialogue around differing perspectives, past pain points, and the team they want to become. This exercise begins as thoughtful and reflective, but leads to dialogue around healthy change.
