In working with an executive team of 8, I created a card play using the TPIs as the “deck.”
• Create a full TPI “deck” with the TPI on one side and the description on the other. You may consider adding images to make the deck livelier and more fun!
• Divide your team into pairs, with the goal of having each pair work on a full set of TPIs (either Productivity or Positivity).
• Assign one team (therefore two pairs) the task of identifying specific examples of when the team delivered significantly on that particular TPI using the SBI (specific-behavior-impact) framework to highlight the strength of execution.
• Once the two pairs have their examples, have them debrief and choose the strongest example for each TPI.
• Assign the other team (another two pairs) the task of identifying specific examples of when the team fell short on that particular TPI, also using the SBI (specific-behavior-impact) framework to highlight the circumstances.
• Once the two pairs have their examples, have them debrief and choose the example that demonstrates the greatest need for work for each TPI.
Once the small group/pair work has been done, the full team debriefs with a focus on how to leverage the learnings from the discussion.
