Knowledge about the brain is necessary to understand how and why the participants in a team reacts in different ways.
When talkning about the Positivity factor “DECISION MAKING” it’s important to understand that the brain categorizes everything into one of two categories: threat or reward.
Dr Evian Gordan is the founder of the Brain Resource Company, which has developed the world’s largest brain database. Gordon says “Everything you do in life is based on your brain’s determination to minimize danger or maximize rewards. Minimize danger, maximize rewards is the organizing principle of the brain”.

Using this information, David Rock (leadership coach specialized in neuroscience) has developed the SCARF model, helping us understand why the brain makes the decison to stay away from threats and go towards rewards.
David Rock says “We’re driven unconsciously to stay away from threat. We’re driven unconsciously to go toward reward. This decision about threat or reward happens five times every second. It’s very subtle. We’re MAKING THIS DECISION about everything good or bad all the time.” (more information in the book “Your Brain at Work” by David Rock).

SCARF Model Exercise to do with the team members:
    Ask the participants to:
-Think about what it feels like when you interact with someone:
1)who makes you notice what’s good about yourself (raising your Status)
2)who is clear with her/his expectations of you (increasing Certainty)
3)who lets you make decisions (increasing Autonomy)
4)who connects with you on a human level (increasing Relatedness)
    5)who treats you Fairly
-Then ask the participants how they felt.
Probably the person will feel calmer, happier, more confident etc.
Adding value to the Positivity factors.
