Participants: Up to 12
Time needed: 3-minute intro at the beginning of the day; After last coffee break of the day: 1-minute presentation/participant, 3-minute debrief
Target Group: newly formed teams; low positivity teams
Purpose: build trust, build a network, get to know each other, have a laugh
Procedure: The coach tells participants at the beginning of the day that after the last coffee break, they will be asked to tell something that would surprise them to know about another participant. This should be something team members are comfortable sharing with the entire team. Whatever is shared MUST NOT BE work-related.
Coffee and lunch breaks should be used for interaction between team members who don’t know each other very well.
After the last coffee break, the coach will draw pairs of names (which need to be prepared beforehand). The first name drawn needs to say something surprising about the second name drawn, etc. In case nothing comes to mind, another name can be drawn. Alternatively, the second name drawn can offer a surprising detail about him-/herself to the team.
At the end of the exercise, shortly reflect on the experience and celebrate the team and it’s openness. .
