This exercise is an especially powerful way to begin the first team session. Ask each participant to fill out the questions on the worksheet (5 min). Then once everyone is done put participants into groups of two to share and discuss their answers (15 – 20 min) . For most teams this is the deepest conversation they may have ever had with their teammates. For the team matching sometimes I put numbers on back of the sheets and ask people to turn over the sheet and find the person who has the matching number or in other cases I will work with HR or the Team Leader in advance to pair members who are not as close. Team members quickly know what it feels like to connect and go deep with their fellow teammates. Once the time is up I ask for insights and debriefs about how the discussion went and what insights could be applied to the team in the future.
