This quick 10 min game will get participants out of their seats and appreciate each other’s differences as well similarities. This also helps build trust. We start with simple areas of lives and then move to deeper questions.

How to Facilitate it an online platform

Create about a dozen questions ( if you are out of time, you can do this with 6 questions) that move from simple to more profound. The questions depend on the team you are working with. These are some example questions we used when working with a team of coaches on the west coast of the US (notice the change in the questions from 8 onward).
    · Implant in the current city

    · Live within 5 miles of downtown

    · Changed professions more than twice

    · Coaching is your ultimate professional goal

    · Were a single child in the family

    · Were the middle child

    · Exercise more than 3 times a week

    · Felt like a square peg in a round role

    · As a child, played with kids who looked like you

    · Were in a predominantly white neighborhood

    · Your face was reflected in at least one of your teachers

    · Avoided/ignored uncomfortable conversations even if it was unjust or wrong to maintain peace

Give instructions for everyone to begin with the camera off. Call out the first question. If the person identifies with the statement, and they choose to, they turn their camera on.
In that state, ask them to notice who is there and not there. Observe! No need for any dialog.
Repeat this with every question, starting with the camera off. People have a choice to make themselves visible or not.
At the end, ask everyone to bring the camera on. Ask them to share experiences. What did they notice about themselves and others?
It leads to a rich discussion with deep insights building Trust and Valuing Diversity, 2 of the 14 TPIs.
